Introduction to Librela (Bedinvetmab) for Canine Osteoarthritis

Introducing Librela: A New Standard of Comfort for Dogs with Osteoarthritis
At Best Friends Veterinary Clinic, we are excited to begin offering Librela, a groundbreaking monthly injectable therapy designed specifically to relieve pain associated with osteoarthritis (OA) in dogs. Many dogs struggle with chronic joint pain as they age, and Librela provides a safe, long-acting option to help them move more comfortably and enjoy a better quality of life.
What Is Librela?
Librela (bedinvetmab) is a monoclonal antibody (mAb) that targets nerve growth factor (NGF)—a key mediator of pain. By neutralizing NGF, Librela reduces osteoarthritis pain at its biological source.
Works differently from NSAIDs
Gentle on organs such as the liver and kidneys
Safe for long-term use in many dogs with chronic OA
Key Advantages of Librela
✔ Monthly injection – No daily pills needed, reducing stress for both dogs and guardians.✔ Rapid pain relief – Many dogs show improvement within days.✔ Long-lasting effect – One injection provides relief for a full month.✔ High safety profile – Because it is not an NSAID, it may be suitable for dogs who cannot tolerate traditional pain medications.✔ Improves mobility and quality of life – Helps dogs walk, run, and play more comfortably.
How Is Librela Administered?
Librela is given as a subcutaneous injection once every 4 weeks.
No fasting is required, and the appointment is quick and comfortable.
Most dogs tolerate the injection very well with minimal side effects.
Your veterinarian will assess your dog’s joint condition regularly to monitor progress.

Is Librela Right for My Dog?
Librela may be recommended for dogs who show:
Stiffness or difficulty standing
Limping or lameness
Reduced activity or reluctance to play
Pain when touched
Difficulty climbing stairs or getting into the car
Your veterinarian will evaluate your dog’s symptoms, age, medical history, and overall health to determine if Librela is an appropriate therapy.

A More Comfortable Life Is Possible
Chronic osteoarthritis pain does not have to limit your dog’s happiness. Librela offers a new, modern, and safe pathway to long-term comfort.
